Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about ExpressDocks aluminum dock systems.
We manufacture and ship — installation is not included. For smaller residential docks, most customers handle assembly themselves with basic hand tools (no welding, no heavy equipment). For larger commercial or complex projects, we can GC the installation and help coordinate qualified local labor on your behalf.
Since every dock is custom-built to your specifications, lead time runs 4–8 weeks from the day your deposit is received. This covers manufacturing, quality inspection, and freight shipping to your location. We'll keep you updated throughout the process.
Deposits range from 30–50% depending on the size and complexity of your project. Your project manager will confirm the exact deposit amount when your quote is finalized. The balance is due prior to shipment.
We ship worldwide, though our primary service area is the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. If your project is outside those regions, contact us and we'll work out the logistics.
Each section connects via forged aluminum joining bars that lock into machined grooves in the side rails of adjacent sections and are secured with bolts and a double-nut locking system — no welding required on site. The result is a rigid, flush connection rated for commercial marina use. You can watch the full assembly animation on our How We Build page.
WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) and Trex are the same category of product — like Q-tip and cotton swab. What sets our WPC apart: it's solid composite, not hollow. Hollow decking flexes, fades, and fails faster. Our solid WPC decking is backed by a 30-year warranty.
Yes. If you prefer Trex-brand decking, we can order it for your project. We recommend our solid WPC because it outlasts Trex and carries our 30-year warranty, but the choice is yours.
Our warranty structure is one of the strongest in the industry: 50-year warranty on the aluminum frame structure, 30-year warranty on WPC composite decking, 20-year warranty on HDPE float blocks. Additionally, original purchasers receive replacement of any dock component at our cost — if you ever need new floats due to damage, you pay only what we pay for the parts.
Yes — every dock is custom built. Straight runs, L-shapes, T-shapes, U-shapes, finger slips, gangways, ramps — we build it to your exact layout. Use our 3D Dock Configurator to design your layout and get a quote, or send us a sketch and we'll take it from there.
Our frames are 6061-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum with welded V-bracing — the same alloy used in commercial marinas worldwide. Decking is solid WPC composite. Floats are marine-grade HDPE (high-density polyethylene). Everything is built to withstand saltwater, freshwater, freeze-thaw cycles, and decades of heavy use.
