Commercial Grade.
Delivered to Your Driveway.

Since 2012, we've been building the same aluminum dock systems used in commercial marinas — and shipping them factory-direct to waterfront properties across the continental United States, Canada, and the Caribbean.

Where It Started

We Were a Commercial
Marine Manufacturer First

Before there was ExpressDocks, there was a manufacturing operation that built heavy-duty aluminum truss dock systems for commercial marina operators — the kind of infrastructure you'd find at a full-scale marina, a public waterfront, or a commercial boatyard. High-load. High-specification. Built to last decades under constant commercial use.

We manufactured with 6061-T6 aluminum — the same structural alloy used in aerospace components and marine hull applications. We knew this material inside and out. We knew what it took to build a dock that would still be performing in 50 years because we built them every day for clients who couldn't afford for them not to.

We weren't building weekend projects. We were engineering marine infrastructure.

The Problem We Saw

Homeowners Were Getting
Left Behind — and Overcharged

As we grew, a pattern kept emerging. Homeowners — people living on a lake, a river, a canal, a tidal creek — who wanted a dock and couldn't get one. Their waterfront was too hard to access. The answer they kept getting was the same:

"We can't get a barge in there."  "The road is too narrow for our equipment."  "We'd need a crane."  "Call someone else."

And the ones who could get a contractor? They were being handed pressure-treated wood docks built from whatever the local building supply had in stock. Materials sourced from the nearest Home Depot. Framed up on-site. No engineering. No warranty that meant anything.

These docks cost homeowners $16,000, $20,000, $25,000 — and they'd be rotting, splintering, and failing in 10 to 15 years. Pressure-treated lumber on a dock isn't a long-term solution. It's a temporary one that gets repriced as if it's permanent.

We kept seeing the same thing: homeowners spending more money for an inferior product, from a local contractor who had no choice but to work with what he could get locally — because the commercial-grade alternative was never available to them.

The Turning Point

A Customer Got Quoted $16,000
for a Pressure-Treated Wood Dock

One conversation crystallized it. A homeowner reached out — a local contractor had quoted him $16,000 for a pressure-treated wood dock. That quote was for lumber. Deck screws. An afternoon of labor. No engineering drawings. No warranty beyond the contractor's goodwill. No guarantee it would look the same in five years.

We shipped that same customer a fully custom commercial-grade aluminum truss dock — engineered to his waterfront, pre-assembled in our factory, photo-documented, and delivered to his driveway — for $9,500.

Less money. Commercial aluminum. 50-year structural warranty. No crane. No barge. No contractor standing in his driveway charging by the hour.

That's when we understood what we actually had.

The Solution

Same Commercial System.
Re-Engineered for Your Driveway.

The question was simple: what if we took the same high-strength aluminum truss frame we use on every commercial marina project — and re-engineered it to ship on a standard freight pallet and assemble without heavy equipment?

Same aluminum. Same truss geometry. Same load ratings. Same 50-year material lifespan. But built in modular sections sized to freight-palletize and ship by standard truck — to any driveway, any address, regardless of whether a barge could reach it.

A small crew. Basic hand tools. No barge. No crane. No equipment staging area. If a standard freight truck can reach your driveway, your dock can arrive.

Same 6061-T6 aluminum truss structure used in full-scale marina installations. The material doesn't change. The delivery method does.

A few workers. Basic hand tools. No crane, no barge, no pile driver. Assembly is guided by factory photos taken of your exact dock.

The Investment Case

Your Dock Will Either Add Value
to Your Home — or Subtract From It

A dock isn't just a dock. It's a permanent fixture on a waterfront property — and waterfront buyers know the difference between a dock that enhances a property and one that raises questions.

A weathered, splintered, pressure-treated wood dock sitting in front of an otherwise beautiful waterfront home tells a buyer one of two things: the owners didn't care, or there's a replacement cost sitting on the table before they even close. Either way, it comes off the price.

A commercial-grade aluminum dock — properly engineered, properly built, with a 50-year structural warranty that transfers with the property — is a different story. That's a feature. That's something a buyer reads as: this was done right, and I won't have to think about it.

If you're going to put a dock in front of your home, do it right. The price difference between doing it right and doing it cheap is smaller than you think — and the difference in what it does to your property value is larger than you think.

A pressure-treated wood dock at $16,000 that needs replacement in 15 years costs you twice. An aluminum dock at $9,500 that outlives the mortgage costs you once — and adds to every appraisal along the way.

How Factory-Direct Aluminum Dock Pricing Works

A factory-direct aluminum dock is an aluminum dock system sold by the manufacturer directly to the end buyer — eliminating the traditional distribution chain of regional dealers, local dock contractors, and sales intermediaries. In the conventional dock industry, a manufacturer sells to a distributor, who sells to a dealer, who marks up again before selling to a homeowner. Each step adds margin, typically 20–40% per layer.

Factory-direct purchasing allows residential buyers to acquire the same dock systems at prices previously available only to commercial contractors or volume marina operators. Aluminum is the preferred material in factory-direct dock manufacturing because it ships efficiently (lightweight relative to strength), requires no surface treatment, and does not corrode in freshwater or saltwater environments. Factory-direct aluminum dock companies typically offer full manufacturer warranties — sometimes 50 years or more — because there is no intermediary to absorb warranty liability.
